When did you start your company? 2007
What was the best cocktail you've ever had and where was it?
A drink called a "Santiago Daisy" at Little Branch, a speakeasy in NYC made with rum and yellow chartreuse.
What has been the hardest obstacle you have had to overcome when starting your business?
The biggest obstacle has been the inability to change people's incorrect perspectives on my company. The golf industry is a male dominated sport, sprinkled with curmudgeons that are less than enthusiastic to embrace a new wave of golf or women working as what is traditionally done by men (forecaddying). Many choose blatant ignorance instead of taking a moment to check our credentials, history, reputation and sadly compare us to competitor brands that are not "up to par" with the same professionalism we strive for. Even 13 years later, after being on Shark Tank, Inside Edition, GOLF.com among other reputable media outlets that surely do their diligence when featuring brands, we still have golf course pros treating us like crap in the pro shop when we roll up to the course.
Have you ever thought of quitting? What did you do to get you back on track?
All the time! I have so many other things I wished to pursue and as a business owner we all have our incredibly hard days.
But, seeing all the young women that utilized this gig to get through college, single mothers supporting their children with a flexible side job on the weekends...you start to realize how many people you can impact. I love watching my team learn and get excited about the game of golf, traveling the country while developing strong relationships comparable to a sisterhood. Being a catalyst of opportunity for anyone to grow and thrive, it grounds me to stay persistent!
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO LISTEN TO IN YOUR CAR? (PODCASTS, MUSIC, AUDIOBOOKS, ETC.)
I am obsessed with "Stuff You Should Know" podcast. I like educational podcasts or also listen to my Duolingo podcast to work on my Spanish. Trap or techno music on the way to an early tee time of a tournament I am managing to get me in the zone.
WHO IS SOMEONE YOU LOOK UP TO? (CAN BE FAMOUS, FAMILY… OR FAMOUS FAMILY.)
My grandmother was a fierce workaholic (I try my best to model my work ethic after her) Despite running a company, she was also extremely well spoken and kind to people even in the midst of chaos. (I am not there yet.)
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU ARE NOT WORKING?
I love being outside or with my dog, Huge! I like to read a lot, write sometimes, yoga often and always plan the next travel adventure.
IF YOU COULD GIVE ANY ADVICE TO YOURSELF 10 YEARS AGO WHAT WOULD THAT BE?
Stop drinking jagerbombs as a cocktail and listen more.
