Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated to celebrating LOVE. Otherwise know as Saint Valentine’s Day it is recognized as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial or otherwise know as a “Hallmark holiday”. Worldwide this “holiday” is celebrated even though it has not become a public holiday. Even though it is just to celebrate ROMANCE!
I know a lot of people despise the holiday or think it is lame. I have gone through my ups and downs with loving the day to wanting to sleep through it. In middle school I would suddenly become single right before the infamous 14th day of February, probably because the guy I was “seeing” did not want to splurge on a box of chocolates. Then at my high school, Desert Mountain the student government would put every students name on hearts around our gigantic school in hopes to have it picked up by your crush or love. Most of course did get snatched up even if it was from the person themselves, but the ones that lingered around the school a few days after always made my own heart hurt a little.
A day that is supposed to be about sharing who you love shouldn’t be so upsetting. Everyone has at least ONE person they love. And I am not bagging on you if that is your grandma or hey your dog! This day is about showing that person (or pet) you care.
