If you haven’t been living under a rock then I am sure you have heard of The Waste Management Phoenix Open. Otherwise known as “The Greatest Show on Grass” or “The People’s Open”. This once a year event has grown from a typical golf tournament to a full blown out party. The attendees are teetering around on grass wandering from one hole to the next while mingling with socialites, celebrities, athletes and your typical golf crowd.
I have been to the open numerous times both in college and out of college and it is always the same thing. The place is PACKED and about 90% of the people have had one too many cocktails. BUT it is a good time and is something our entire town prepares for. Nowadays people wait for hours to sit in the infamous 16th hole stands. That is the one where someone threw a bottle at Tiger Woods- so he will no longer play at the open. I love it when the players interact with the crowd by trying to rile them up or if they miss terribly…you will be booed. LOL Oh its great.
Now onto the attire- you can see anything from actual golf clothes, then to costumes, to slinky dresses and stilettos, to half dressed guys and girls. I will admit and say the times I have gone it is more for the people watching than for the golf, which is why I created a board for our followers to take a peak at. Look Here
You do not want to be one of those girls rolling her ankle because you wore wedges…thats a big NO. Or one of those guys who thought white pants were a good idea and then you get trashed and are rolling down green hills. So please take a peak.
